Alexander Lvovich (Kazachstan)
Alexander Lvovich was born in the Ukraine and is now resident of Kazachstan. He has taken over the tradition and culture of his chosen home in Central Asia. His ceramics reflect untamed nature, which shaped a people that for a long time was overwhelmed by fierce conquerors.
He makes a lot of different forms; ordinary pots but also reliefs, warriors and hatchets.
He is building up his objects with small slabs of clay, fully covered with relief and texture, coloured by oxides, like roofs with slates. Therefore they remind of Asian tents of nomads, called yurt or ger.
